Initial Acupuncture Appointment

If you're a new patient or you haven't been to us for over 12 months, you'll need to book an initial consultation. This allows us to take a full medical history and ask you everything we need to know to help us reach a Chinese medicine diagnosis. The first appointment will also include a treatment so you can start to feel the benefits of acupuncture from your very first session!

Follow Up Appointment

Whilst most people feel the benefits of acupuncture after just one treatment, the benefits are cumulative and most conditions benefit from a course of treatments. After your initial appointment, you'll be able to book follow up appointments which usually last around an hour. The number and frequency of appointments best suited for you will be discussed during your initial session.
Don't forget, most health insurers and healthcare cash plan providers cover acupuncture treatments where provided by a fully qualified and registered practitioner (as I am) so don't forget to check your policy or ask in clinic for details of providers that cover acupuncture.

What To Expect
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy in which very fine needles are inserted into specific points in the body with the aim of restoring balance. We now know that acupuncture works by triggering the body's healing response, calming the nervous system, regulating hormones and releasing endorphins.
I believe our bodies know how to heal themselves, acupuncture helps to point you in the right direction and remove any blockages!
What does acupuncture treat?
It's probably easier to say what it doesn't treat! Acupuncture is a fabulous therapy for a wide range of conditions, because it relaxes the nervous systems, reduces inflammation, boosts blood flow and balances hormones, it can treat so much! Your Treatment
When you come for acupuncture at Thrive Acupuncture Clinic, you're in very safe hands! I hold a first class BSc Degree in Acupuncture and I've undertaken numerous additional qualifications to ensure you receive the most effective, quality care. I'm also registered with the British Acupuncture Council which is the leading body for acupuncture in the UK, and the only one recognised by the Professional Standards Authority.
Your first appointment will involve a deep dive into your health and well-being and will include traditional Chinese medicine pulse and tongue diagnosis. We'll explain the treatment and how many sessions you're likely to need (we usually suggest to start with 3-6 depending on what brings you for treatment). You'll have the chance to ask any questions and then we'll get started with a treatment.
