Women's Health Acupuncture

Women’s health is complex. Hormones, cycles, stress, sleep, digestion and life stage all interact, and symptoms are too often dismissed as “normal” or something you just have to put up with.

Many women come to me after years of feeling unheard, with no clear explanation for what’s happening in their bodies. I combine Traditional Chinese Medicine with an understanding of biomedicine to look at the whole picture, connecting symptoms that may have been considered in isolation and helping you understand what might be going on.

Acupuncture can support you through a wide range of women’s health concerns, from painful or irregular periods to the changes of perimenopause and menopause. It takes a personalised approach that treats you as a whole person rather than a list of symptoms.

I've included a list of common conditions women seek my help with, if your particular concern isn't listed, please do get in touch to find out if acupuncture can support you (there isn't much we can't help with).

How can we support you?

Menstrual Cycle Support

Whether it's irregular or painful periods, heavy periods, cycle related migraines, PMS or PMDD, acupuncture can help.  We will work to re-balance your hormones, reduce stress, and improve your body's connection between brain and ovaries to support a more regular, trouble free cycle.  We treat from age 11+ (or first period if earlier) and we're passionate about ensuring that no woman has to put up with painful or disruptive periods!

PMOS (PCOS)

PMOS or PCOS as it was previously known, can affect us in many different ways.  Acupuncture can help to regulate your cycle, bring on ovulation, level out hormone imbalances and support your overall health

Endometriosis

Endometriosis can have a huge impact on people's lives and often women wait such a long time for a diagnosis.  With or without that diagnosis, acupuncture works to help balance hormones, reduce inflammation, ease pain and discomfort, alleviate painful and heavy periods and support with the emotional impact that living with chronic pain can bring.

Menopause & Perimenopause

The transition through perimenopause can be rocky for some of us.  The list of possible symptoms is endless and you may feel you don't know where to turn.  Here at Thrive Acupuncture Clinic, we can help with the whole range of symptoms you might be experiencing, including (but not limited to) insomnia, anxiety, hot flushes, brain fog, restless leg, joint aches, headaches / migraines, fatigue, allergies, and general overwhelm.  I so often hear from women in clinic that they just don't feel like themselves anymore and acupuncture can help you get back to yourself so you can enjoy this time of life again!

Anxiety & Emotional Health

Acupuncture is great for emotional health and well-being.  It immediately helps to calm the nervous system and ease stress and anxiety.  It also has a wonderful ability to help improve your resilience.  We can't change the challenges and demands you may be facing in life but we can improve how you're able to respond to them and lessen the impact they have.

General Health & Well-being

Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine can treat such a broad range of conditions and issues, it's impossible to list them all here.  If you have a concern that isn't covered, please do get in touch to see if we can help.  Acupuncture is also a wonderful preventative treatment and can be used for regular self care and supporting well-being and longevity.

From my very first emotional appointment, where we talked through my medical history and the years I’d spent living with endometriosis and bilateral hydrosalpinx, I felt listened to. After almost 30 years of pain, I had almost accepted that constant pain was just part of my life.
Just four sessions later, I found myself crying because my friends and family could see the change in me. Since starting acupuncture with Rebecca, I’ve finally experienced real pain relief and, for the first time in years, I feel like myself again.
